PERVIN SAKET is a Writer-In-Residence for the International Writing Program 2024 at the University of Iowa. She was awarded the Srinivas Rayaprol Poetry Prize 2021 and she was the inaugural Fellow for the Vancouver Manuscript Intensive, 2021. Her latest poetry manuscript was a finalist for the Gaudy Boy Poetry Book Prize and the Wheelbarrow Books Prize (Michigan State University) 2023.

On her way to things literary, she has been a mystery shopper, a karate instructor, a junior artist in Bollywood films and a gaming parlour attendant, along with the mandatory pit stops of teaching Joyce and writing ad content.

Her novel Urmila has been adapted for the stage, featuring classical Indian dance forms of Kathak, Bharatnatyam and Odissi. Her poems, including the debut collection A Tinge of Turmeric, have been widely anthologised.

Pervin is the curator of Literature at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival. She is the Poetry Editor of The Bombay Literary Magazine and the co-founder of the Kolam Writers’ Worshop.
